Laminate

This is also a very exciting product line for Carpet King & Tile. We sell and install products manufactured by Mannington, Quick-Step, Wilsonart and Alloc to name just a few. Industry wide, laminate sales have increased by leaps and bounds since it was first introduced in 1994. It is estimated that this category of floor covering increased at the greatest rate in 1998. The success of this product is due to its real wood look and the fact that it can be installed quickly, with an already finished look (no sanding required). Consumers have increasingly considered this product, instead of other lines, for entry foyers and kitchens.

Hardwood and Engineerd hardwood

Carpet King & Tile sells and installs pre-finished hardwood products and engineerd hardwood products manufactured by Mannington, Vintage, Scandian, Columbia, Mirage, Lauzon and other brand names. Carpet King & Tile offers a very broad selection of real hardwood products that are already finished and can be installed quickly to replace your existing floor-covering.

Time was, all wood floors were sanded and finished on site, a process that's notorious for the dust and fumes it generates. But with factory-finished floors, there's no need to sand or wait days for a finish to cure: You can walk on it as soon as it's installed. These finishes, now used on many brands of solid-strip and engineered-wood flooring, have as many as seven coats (three is typical for job-site-applied finishes). Each one is loaded with transparent ceramic particles, which resist wear and tear. Warrantees of 25 years are now fairly common.

The hardwood product is a natural for you when you are considering replacing your floor in the living room or your entry way. It also can be combined with carpet and other types of flooring to provide a contrasting look to meet your unique requirements.

Tile

This is a very fast growing segment of the floor covering market. Carpet King & Tile offers and installs a wide selection of ceramic and natural stone floor and wall tiles.

CERAMIC TILE:

A glazed tile made from clays and other ceramic material. It is fired to a temperature sufficiently high to produce a dense body. Decorative ceramic tile is heated at a lower temperature and for a longer period of time to allow the glazes to work. Only some low-fired ceramics are frost resistant.

Ceramic tile is rated by the hardness of the glaze. Depending upon glaze, some tiles are rated only for light residential use, and there are others rated for total residential use, light commercial use moving into commercial use. Ceramic can be more decorative than porcelain as it's not fired in as high temperature as porcelain. Ceramic can be used in all residential and some commercial installations. Some ceramics are frost resistant. The primary reasons why one would select ceramic and porcelain tile over natural stone is that they take much less care than natural stone, both installation and in maintenance (see note under Porcelain tile).

PORCELAIN TILE:

A glazed or unglazed virtreous tile that is made of an extremely fine porcelain clay composition that produces a dense, impervious, fine tile. It is suited for both exterior and interior use, and is frost proof.

Porcelain is denser, therefore stronger than ceramic tile. The unglazed clay composition has the same color throughout the tile. It is used residentially, but is chosen more often than ceramic for industrial use. The primary reasons why one would select porcelain and ceramic tile over natural stone is that they take much less care than natural stone, both installation and in maintenance.

 Note:

Proper maintenance for ceramic and porcelain tile is easy. Vacuum the are first to get up loose dirt so it won't darken the grout joint. Depending on the usage, rsidential or commercial, a neutral non-toxic concentrated cleaner should be used that can handle difficult dirt and grease problems, yet is gentle enough for every day use. There are specialty cleaners for special problems.

NATURAL STONE:

Natural stone is not manufactured, it comes from nature and since this is the case, you must expect great variation in color and vein within the same slab. There are textural variations as well.

Natural stone is the exact product that ceramic and porcelain try to copy. It is the original, but has some maintenance characteristics that mus be taken into account before making a decision to purchase. The material you'll receive will vary in color and mineral composition from the sample you choose. Natural stone may be very soft to very dense. Depending on the use intended you have to pick the right density stone.  The range of porosity differs a great deal, so there are more variables involved. People who love the natural look and are willing to undergo the maintenance choose stone.

Note:

The proper maintenance for natural stone is to vacuum the area first to get up loose dirt so it won't darken the grout joint. Depending on the usage, residential or commercial, a neutral non-toxic concentrated cleaner should be used that can handle difficult dirt and grease problems, yet is gentle enough for every day use. There are specialty cleaners for special problems. Natural stone must be cleaned and sealed during the process of installation. The number of coats of sealant is dependent upon the porosity of the stone. It requires another sealing after the grout is dry, and it needs to be swept or vacuumed very frequently, the follow the instructions for regular cleaning. The big difference is that porcelain and ceramic don't have to be resealed, but natural stone does, based on its wear.

Vinyl

Carpet King & Tile offers and installs products manufactured by Mannington, Armstrong and Tarkett to name just a few. Vinyl, also known as resilient flooring is a very stable product which has some natural advantages over other types of floor-covering for the kitchen and the bathrooms. There are certain things that vinyl does very well - it is easy to maintain and enables the consumer to have one sheet of product installed over the entire surface. New is vinyl that comes in the size of 12" x 12" or 24" x 24" tiles. There are a number of recent changes that the manufacturers have made to improve the products styling and quaility.  Come in and ask for details.
